Golden Acres Home for the Aged is in Misamis St., Bago Bantay, Quezon City.
I wanted to share to you guys about a place where elderly people go here in the Philippines, to spend their remaining lives, for different reasons, mostly their own families doesn’t want them anymore or for others they want some peace, away from their families… We went there Feb 13, 2010, coordinated by my sister Nena, with my church friends and siblings to visit them this valentines week and more importantly to share the gospel with them. The Lord is been gracious to us to be able to allow help from Brother in Christ, Pastor Julius, and His wife Sister Nori, and our church very own Pastor Rysie to spend quality time with them for a change. I hope that by visiting them it will some how brighten their day and will remind us that time spend with your elder is a time well spent. Remember, soon we will be as old as them and that Love that we show to our parents or grandparents will reflect to our sons and daughters someday, So lead by example, on how love and respect should be shown to our elderly as well as to our parents. Lets start now for there won’t be another time…
Feb 13, 2010 – 9:00am – A memorable day for me, for it is my birthday… We went to Golden Acres – Home for the Aged, Our goal is to Celebrate Valentines with elderly people, We started of with an opening prayer by Pastor Julius, after which he guided them with some morning exercise and stretching… Light workout only!
Then we sang a couples of songs of praise in tagalog,
then we sang songs with action and with partners as well… One can see joy in their eyes…
After that we had a light moments with some games, like a Christian Bingo game…
and a game of “Hep Hep Horay!” where in a microphone will be randomly pointed to you so one should say “hep hep” simultaneosly clap your hands facing downwards, and then the next person will say ‘horay!” by raising your both hands, so on and so fort until one makes a mistake, and is removed from the game…
Then after the games, A short message by Pastor Julies who talked about salvation, through faith and that life here on earth is just temporary. Praise the Lord! a lot of our elderly people, accepted Christ as their personal savior.
Praise the Lord! The next part of the program is the group picture… Everybody Smile!…
After the picture taking, prizes from the games where given out to teams who won…
And finally… Lunch was given to them, to their rooms…
Final group shot…
To God Be the Glory!…
